Celestia Ludenberg/Dora the Explorer, known mostly as Celesdora, is a crack pairing within the Dangan Ronpa fandom that sprung up in late December 2013 on Tumblr. The ship is between Celestia Ludenberg, a main character in Dangan Ronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc, and Dora the Explorer from the American preschool educational cartoon series of the same name.
Background
The ship was created by Tanjou in the fic Dora & Boots Ronpa, Archived version along with Bootsgami, which pairs Dora's monkey Boots with Byakuya Togami.[1] It was just one of many crackships involving the DR1 cast being coined at the time. In late 2013, the Dangan Ronpa fandom was infamous for its meme culture, with the fandom thriving on shitposts and pushing away the series' dark tone in good fun. Similar meme-y crackships from the time include Togami/Barry B. Benson from the Bee Movie[2] and Nagito Komaeda/Elsa from Frozen.[3]
It spawned similar ships involving Dora characters, such as Diego/Hifumi Yamada[4], Diego/Aoi Asahina, Swiper/Kiyotaka Ishimaru[5] and Jaguar/Monokuma[6]. Bootsgami also got some traction.[7]
Celesdora ended up having the longest-lasting impact, representing all the crackships. The person behind Spike Chunsoft's English Twitter, the Japanese studio behind the Dangan Ronpa games, may have shared a Celesdora AMV through DMs with a fan.[8]
