Notable Works
- "Nobody Waves Goodbye" - a 1983 The Professionals story (Chalk and Cheese Issue #4) which was notable for inspiring a parody sequel trilogy by Jane Mailander [Bodie and Doyle (DECEASED); "Wave Goodbye Already!" (Brit Shriek!), "Marley" (Holiday Shrieks!) and "See Me, Hear Me, Feel Me" (Leather and Blue Jeans)]. By all account, Cathy took it well:
Thanks, Mysti, for publishing the "odd-zines" LoCs. Kinda funny that Cathy Bryson liked "Wave Goodbye Already!' when I wrote it as a parody of her "Nobody Waves Goodbye"; go figure. I have the beginnings of another Bodie and Doyle (Deceased) story (a la "Wave Goodbye" and "Martey"). Criminitley, I've got friggin' serieses coming out of my ears now! And three years ago I didn't know Bod.e from Doyle...[1]
- "We, Who Always Loved You Best" - award-winning Robin of Sherwood poem, published in Albion Issue #11 [1997].
Awards
- Major Oak Awards - Excellence in Robin of Sherwood Zines.
- 1997 - Best Newcomer (Poetry) - "We, Who Always Loved You Best" (tie)

And the stories...well, let's talk about the stories. Again, In all honesty, I did not -- could not -- read all the stories. So, it's possible I missed a gen -- er, gem -- or two.Nobody Waves Goodbye by Cathy L. Bryson
"They've finally killed me, Bodie," he said softly, in a voice devoid of any trace of bitterness.
"So they have," Bodie agreed solemnly, never one to mince words with his partner.
Seven pages of Doyle and Bodie saying goodbye (you'd think someone would at least let a doctor look at Doyle after he lasted five and a half pages, but nope). Finally, Bodie decides to kill himself by popping the little tab of cyanide he apparently always keeps handy.
The vicar knelt down beside the bodies, sighing as he noted that the hands still clung together, only now in a true death grip, and that Doyle had gone with the proverbial smile upon his face.
Yeah, 'cause watching someone you love commit suicide by cyanide is such a pleasant sight.
Yeesh.[2]
I hate death stories where they may be dead, but their ghosts hang around being just as obtrusive as the ever were in life. There's a really annoying one of those in, I think, CHALK AND CHEESE, where Bodie commits suicide by accident after Doyle's death. By accident, fer gossake! Bodie? "[3]
Addison vs. Hayes, Round 50" by Cathy Bryson, caught the essence of the TV series MOONLIGHTING perfectly. The dialogue was straight from...an ML script. This show is not to be believed until you've seen it trying something entirely different every week![4]
