Gale Dekarios is a character in Baldur's Gate III. He is a wizard by default.

Canon

Gale can be easily missed during early game, as he appears simply as a hand coming out of some sort of magic hole. Due to fear of early game battle some fans avoid him, while other may chose to not trust him. He is a gentle, intelligent character, who will disapprove of hurting other, but is more easily convinced to turn a blind eye than Wyll.

Gale needs to consume magical items in order to not die (something that would also destroy a large area around him). He also has a cat-like familiar.

Common Tropes

  • Scent kink: it appears to be canon he likes the scent of sweat.
  • Attraction to danger
  • Camp cook: Due to in-game dialogue about his cooking, fans consider him to be the de facto camp cook in most fanworks[1].

  • Volatile, Unstable And Awesome by KneeBone, Gale/Female Tav, Really, it was inevitable she was going to slip up at some point. When you’re travelling with a group of people who are psychically connected by mind-flayer tadpoles, somewhere along the line, someone is going to accidentally read someone’s mind. But did it have to be him? And did it have to be that? (2023)
  • Strings by Aldaphrodite, Astarion/Gale, “Gale knew Astarion was a spawn, which meant he had a master at one point. Whether that master was alive or dead seemed irrelevant, as Astarion was free-thinking. He didn’t seem to be under any sort of command. Most spawn with a dead master would’ve wandered aimlessly with no direction. This was interesting. A spawn with free will. There were surely limitations, though. A spawn was hardly more than a thrall. A puppet on strings. Gale rather wanted to test those strings.” (2024)
  • Give in to the Urge by auriadne, Gale/Male Turge, Durge lets a different kind of invasive thought win. ... AKA, Gale gets fucked while stuck in that portal. (2023)
  • a name without a body to match by amorficzna, Gale/Shadowheart, And yet Shadowheart was her name, and she did not belong on another’s body. Her lips twisted into a frown at the insolent thought, the skin against her hip flaring angrily from where she had cut it, hoping the pain would cut through the cloying warmth that still lingered there. To bring her mind back to Shar. (2023)
