Grimsley/Will, known mostly as WildcardShipping, 4242564Shipping and/or ギマイツ (Gimaitsu), is a rare ship in the Pokémon fandom. It pairs Grimsley (Giima) and Will (Itsuki), the Dark-type specialist Elite Four member from Pokémon Black and White the Dark-type specialist Elite Four member from Pokémon Gold, Silver and Crystal respectively.

Canon Background

While the two do not meet in the main series, in Pokemon Masters EX, the two form a team with Karen. Will and Karen ask Grimsley to join their team, to which Grimsley leaves it up to a coin flip. Grimsley joins their team after the coin flip is presumably successful, but promptly loses to the player's team in the PML.

While their first interaction is actually somewhat antagonistic, with Grimsley doubting Will's strength, the two seem to patch things up offscreen as their following interaction is seemingly on better terms.

-Shipping Name Origin

"4242564Shipping" was the first to be coined, sometime between 31 October 2010[Notes 1] and 29 January 2011[Notes 2] for the Neverending Romance ship name list. It's a reference to the Death Room in Soul Eater, which in it of itself is goroawase, a common Japanese wordplay that correlates words that are homophones with numbers.

In Soul Eater, tracing the numbers 42-42-564 into a mirror summon Shinigami (spirits that 'invite' humans towards death.) When said aloud, the numbers can literally mean death-death-murder.[1]

While this name was used by shippers for a time, sometime before 09 April 2021,[Notes 3] after a very long period of inactivity for the ship, "WildcardShipping" would be coined and effectively replace the old name.
