-Shipping Name Origin
"CatfightShipping" was coined on 03 January 2018 by asexualfulbright on tumblr.[1] It's a play on how Nanu likes cats and Hala specializes in Fighting-type Pokémon. This conflicts with Emily/Jessica's ship name on Neverending Romance, considered the masterlist for all Pokémon ships ever conceived, a rare pairing with little to no fan activity.[Notes 1] Despite this conflict, as there's no name listed for Hala/Nanu on the list as of 17 March 2025, Catfight is likely to become "official" for both pairings in the future unless a non-conflicting name is coined and popularized among shippers.
