Makin is a fan and reviewer. He maintains The Shills List of fiction (both OW and fanfic), which has expanded into a blog, Record Crash, in which he reviews fanfiction, webfiction, and traditionally published media. He's a moderator for r/Homestuck and several other Homestuck subreddits.
