Milo is the first Gym Leader the player, (either as Gloria or as Victor,) faces in Pokémon Sword and Shield, released in 2019. He gets focus in a good amount of fanworks, but less so than other SWSH characters.

In acronym ship names, Milo is represented with "yr," short for his Japanese name Yarrow. The acronyms were created by the Japanese side of the fandom mostly on Twitter before being adopted elsewhere. Common portmanteaus also originate from Pixiv unless it uses their English names.
