The Pokémon Companion AU, also sometimes called a headcanon or a trend, is a trope where characters from fandoms outside of the Pokémon universe are given a Pokemon companion, or sometimes a whole team of Pokémon. It is especially popular in fanart, but it can also be found in a variety of other fanworks as well. Or even just as a creative exercise to imagine what Pokemon would be the best match for your favorite character.

Several fandoms have fandom-specific names for this type of AU: "Pokelock" in the BBC Sherlock fandom; "Pokefalls" or "Poke Falls" in the Gravity Falls fandom, more???
