Rain World is a survival-platform video game initially released on March 28, 2017 for Microsoft Windows and PlayStation 4.
History
Rain World was originally released in 2017, but the release of the Downpour DLC drove a huge upswing of fandom.[1] Downpour added a lot of content (much originally developed by fans in mods) and spurred interest.
Initially developed as the More Slugcats Mod by the community, it was brought on as official content when Akupara Games became Videocult's publisher. Downpour also incorporates several other community-made projects, including Jolly Co-op, Expedition, and Rain World: Remix, a free update to the vanilla game adding accessibility and quality of life options.

Gameplay
Base Game
The base game of Rain World offers three slugcats for the player to play as: Survivor, Monk, and Hunter. Each slugcat has its own campaign, and the enemy distribution, maps, and NPC interactions change between campaigns.
Downpour
Downpour adds five new slugcats to the game: Artificer, Gourmand, Rivulet, Saint, and Spearmaster. Like the base game, each slugcat has their own campaign and unique features.
