SIG (Special Interest Group) is a community of Mensa fans that focus on a specific topic.
Many are not fannish, but some are, including ones for Star Trek, Star Wars, and Doctor Who.
From a fan in 1981:
Mensa is, as some may know, the society for people in the 99th percentile of the population, IQ-wise. Just starting up in this society is a Special Interest Group dealing with Star Wars. Although one must be a member of Mensa to officially belong to the SIG, the Newsletter is available to non-Mensans. The Newsletter is called LuMinous Beings... [1]

Almost Human, Q-de-grace, Shotten Herrings, Trenhaile, and Zodiac are Star Trek: TNG novels published by a British Star Trek SIG called British Mensa Ltd..
TREKisM, a Star Trek community, published a long-running newsletter called TREKisM as well as TREKisM at Length, a zine of fiction, art and non-fiction.
