Not sure how I want to organize this yet (or which page to put it on) so just dumping some links here for later:

• wrote up a whole argument for it, but i think that what madoka suffers from in pmmm is significantly more similar to catholic guilt than homura. by cookiethebirdthing
• madohomu is honestly so hilarious because madoka thinks she’s guanyin in love with mara and homura thinks she’s samael in love with sophia by azdoine -- gnosticism and buddhism
• conversation btw [several ppl] mostly about self-harm in the series but it also discusses Kyoko and Homura's experiences with religion.

• haven't found the post yet but i'm pretty sure sailormoonsub talked about it at some point during their liveblog i think
• it's funny that homura being catholic became a meme since catholic schools in japan are basically just fancy private schools and you don't have to be overly religious to go to one, meanwhile kyoko was actually canonically raised by a christian zealot post by telltaletypist
• So Homura saying “I went to a Catholic school” can be understood by Japanese audiences as a euphemism for “I grew up in an orphanage.”
• The Devil’s Advocate: Understanding Homura Akemi & The Rebellion Story in Style by papirini -- long meta on Homura (should go on her character page), haven't read it all yet but it brings in Dante's Inferno etc.
• Magi Madoka Magica: The Faith of Kyoko Sakura by allenbyseyes -- 2021 or earlier
