Reactions and Reviews

A warm, delicate post-ST V story. Not much new here except the time period. And while I don't like thinking they have to wait until the last movie to get together, I thought this was well handled for such a simply-plotted story. I liked the cautious, 'careful' conversations between Kirk and Spock.I usually associate this author as writing Spock the most accurately, but with this story I think she had Kirk pinned just as I would imagine him is this situation.
I thought this story contained a neat explanation as to Spock's referring to Sybok early in the movie as being a "ghost from the past." [1]
This story was so well written that I felt like I was right there beside Spock and Kirk when they discussed their relationship. Now that's meant to be a compliment.
I could feel Kirk's pain at not knowing how Spock felt about him. And his pain for not being told about Sybok. But on the other hand I could feel Spock's total confusion at Kirk's withdrawal. Excellent writing. [2]

A very good story. I usually do like stories of Kirk and Spock discussing something very important in their lives and currently Sybok and the Genesis planet are favorites of mine. And the addition of Amanda in the story was a good one. Her advice to Spock was good.[3]
