Janine & Koga is a common gen (combi in Japanese) relationship in the Pokémon fandom. It pairs Janine (Anzu) and her father Koga (Kyou), with Janine coming from Pokémon Gold, Silver and Crystal and Koga coming from Pokémon Red, Blue and Yellow. Janine replaces Koga's position as the poison-type specialist gym leader in Fuchsia City in GSC, as Koga became a member of the Elite Four and couldn't occupy both positions.

They are the first gym leaders in the series to be inter-generational, with Byron & Roark (father & son duo) from Pokémon Diamond, Pearl and Platinum being the second and Gordie & Melony (son & mother duo) from Pokémon Sword and Shield being the third. The Striaton Trio, consisting of the triplet gym leaders from Pokémon Black and White, are also worth mentioning.
